Te Hikoi was opened in December 2007, with collection items from Riverton Heritage Society, which was previously Wallace Early Settlers Association. The society is now part of Riverton Heritage Museum and Tourist Centre Trust, who own the premises and operate the museum.

Donations
We are always welcoming of people offering their taonga or treasures to our museum. To offer an object or image, please make an appointment so that someone can gather relevant information from you, to inform our decision on if it fits with our Collection Policy. You will be given options for what you would like us to do with it if we decide it is not suitable for our collection.
Please be aware, that like many museums, only a small amount of our collection goes on display, and most only for temporary exhibitions. We will however, endeavour to share it with the world by having images and information shared online, along with the rest of our collection.
