ANNUAL Art Challenge
If you are planning a visit to our museum in September or October, it is a great opportunity to experience our annual art challenge exhibition. This blend of art alongside each artefact that inspired it will leave you amazed - one of the best things to do, and a unique way to explore our heritage.
In winter 2023 we launched our inaugural Art Challenge, with funding from Creative Communities. Artists from anywhere were invited to view our collection online, and get inspired to create any work of art (creative writing, textile, photography, painting, sculpture, pottery etc.). We were thrilled to receive 21 works, which were displayed alongside the objects of inspiration from our collection for the month of September 2023. More than 400 people visited the exhibition.
It was such a success on many levels, we did it again in 2024, and were blown away to receive 42 diverse entries from first time exhibitors to a fine arts graduate!
We are looking to talk to potential sponsors who are keen to encourage creativity and celebrate our history for our Art Challenge 2025!
