MATARIKI EVENTS
The following events and competitions have been planned by various groups around Aparima (Riverton), to celebrate Matariki in June 2023.
Colouring Competition
Colour the night sky! Download the design from this website: Matariki | Māori Television (maoritelevision.com). Drop your entry off to Te Hikoi Museum before 4pm Thursday 13 July (slide under the door if the museum is closed). Entries received will be displayed at Te Hikoi from Friday 14 July for one week. Winners will be notified on Friday 14th July - so don't forget to include your name, age and contact details.

Documentary Screening - The Last Tour
7pm Te Hikoi Museum, 172 Palmerston St
This documentary follows the late Mick Hesselin, a retired architect and heritage advocate, hosting a farewell tour of historic buildings in central Invercargill, just months before the block was redeveloped. A one-hour documentary filmed in November 2019. Mick’s passion for architectural heritage makes his stories insightful, funny, and extremely poignant. ‘The Last Tour’ is both a celebration of the past and a reminder for the future.
